If you are a Crunch customer who manages their own data and also receives data from another Crunch customer, a data exchange allows the data owner to give you access to dataset views from their organization.
A data exchange allows one organization (the sender) to make dataset views available to another organization (the receiver). Each data exchange specifies exactly one sender and one receiver. Once they have received a view through the exchange, the receiver can move it to any folder in their organization, allowing users to access data from multiple sources seamlessly.
For more information or to set up a data exchange, please reach out to support@crunch.io.
Receiving a dataset view
Dataset views received via an exchange cannot be opened until they are moved into a folder in your organization. In order to do this:
- Open the data exchange.
- Move the dataset view from the exchange to any folder in your organization just as if you were moving a dataset. See the following article for more information:
- After the view is moved, the data exchange will show the location of the view in your organization. This allows you to easily keep track of what dataset views you have received.
Managing access to the data exchange
- Users from the receiving organization cannot see or manage users from the sending organization and vice versa.
- Only existing users in Crunch can be granted to the data exchange.
- You cannot remove your own data exchange permissions.
The receiver can grant access to the data exchange to one or more users. These users can:
- Move dataset views from the exchange to a folder in your organization as described above.
- Manage which users in the receiving organization have access to the exchange.
Managing access to an exchange is just like managing access to a folder in your organization:
- Navigate to the exchange in the sidebar.
- Click the silhouette icon at the top to view and manage permissions to this exchange.
- Select +Add users to add a new user.
- Enter the user’s email address and click Add users. The user will now have access to the exchange.
- To remove a user, hover over the user and an x will appear. Click the x to remove the user.
