The Crunch AI Agent is a conversational interface that allows you to uncover insights in seconds using natural language. It acts as a smart guide within Crunch, helping you explore and analyze deep survey data without needing technical analytics expertise.
Overview
The AI Agent works alongside you as a research assistant to enhance your speed and confidence. Every response is grounded in your survey data, ensuring your decisions are based on accurate data rather than guesswork.
What the AI Agent can do:
- Explore Behaviors and Demographics: Ask questions about attitudes, income, age, and more.
- Analyze Brand Health: Instantly see awareness, usage, and perception based on your survey data.
- Compare Segments: Break down results by age, gender, region or your own custom segments.
- Summarize Trends: Get concise, actionable insights on shopping, media, and technology.
Navigating the Interface
The AI Agent is currently in Beta mode and can be enabled on select folders in Crunch. Reach out to support@crunch.io if you are interested in trying out the AI Agent on your survey data.

- Copy to Clipboard: Easily move insights into your reports by copying chat responses directly.
Using the AI Agent
To get started, type a question in the chat bar and press the button (or the enter key). A new record will be created on the left chat sidebar showing your chat conversation. You can manage your conversations in the chat sidebar on the left.
- Click the New chat button to start a new conversation.
- Click on a past conversation to load your previous queries and responses.
- Hover over an existing chat and click on the three-dot menu to pin, rename, or delete your conversation.
- Pin saves the conversation to the top of the chat sidebar so it's easier to find later.
- Rename allows you to change the default name of the conversation.
- Delete removes the conversation from the list in the chat sidebar.
If you want to stop the agent while it's processing your question, press the button to stop the response. You can edit your query and ask again when you are ready.
Best Practices for Better Insights
To get the most accurate and useful results, follow these prompting tips:
- Just ask: ask the AI Agent “What can you help me with?” to better understand what the AI Agent can help you with.
- Start with your goal: Instead of just a question, explain what you are trying to accomplish (e.g., "I am planning a media strategy for Gen Z...").
- Be specific: "What percentage of adults drink soda weekly?" will yield a better result than "Tell me about soda".
- Ask one question at a time: Focused, single-purpose questions are more effective than multi-part "brain dumps".
- Use action verbs: Guide the AI by using words like "compare", "summarize", or "find anomalies".
- Invite exploration: Ask the agent "What is surprising here?" or "What should I investigate next?" to uncover deeper patterns.
Privacy and Trust
We take data security seriously to ensure you can make decisions with confidence:
- Grounded in Reality: The AI Agent only answers questions based on the Crunch dataset; it will not answer questions outside of that context.
- Protected Data: Client data is not used to train our AI models.
- Human-Verified: The AI is designed to supercharge human insight, not replace it.
