Folders allow you to organize and share your survey projects while enhancing data security and auditability.
Organization-wide folder access for account administrators
Crunch can provide account admins with the ability to see all the folders within their organization. After you enable this feature, account admins will then be able to:
- see all the data in the folders, including datasets, views, dashboards, and so on.
- use the folder sidebar to view all of the folders along with the user’s existing folders.
Please note that account admins have Editor-Level Access to all folders across their organization. You can email support@crunch.io to enable or disable this feature for any account admin in your organization.
Crunch has simplified sharing components of your survey analysis, such as documents, datasets, filters, and variables. This approach has many advantages:
- Transparency. Account administrators have total visibility into who has how much access to which data. The app now has one single source of truth on who has permissions on which folders.
- Scaling. Folders position your organization and your Crunch datasets and documents to grow in a manageable way.
- Organization. A strong system for putting data, documents, and dashboards in a predictable place will facilitate discovery by others on your team.
- Ease. For ongoing projects, new waves of data will no longer require explicit sharing. Folders will allow consistent data availability
How do I use folders?
Customers should organize their datasets and documents into folders if they have not already done so.

An example
To illustrate how folder organization and sharing works, we have prepared an example. The Crunch customer is The Neighborhood MR, a market research firm specializing in the dining industry. The Neighborhood MR delivers projects in Crunch to three customers: Beignet & the Jets, Biscotti Pippen, and Ponzu Scheme.
- All projects that The Neighborhood has conducted for Beignet & the Jets are in the Beignet & the Jets folder.
- Within that folder are three separate folders.
- Molly Merengue is the VP of Research at Beignet & the Jets. Molly has been granted access at the top level folder for Beignet & the Jets and can see all the folders. She is also an admin and can manage which Beignet & The Jets users have access to which folders.
- Of note, Molly cannot see anything else in The Neighborhood MR folder and cannot remove The Neighborhood MR employees from the Beignet & the Jets folder.
- Betty Brioche is an intern and is exclusively working on the tracker project. Betty has been granted access at the project level folder and can only see the contents of that folder.
What Molly Meringue sees:
- Molly can only see the Beignet and the Jets folder and its subfolders.
- Molly can see that Betty has permission on the Pastry Trends Tracker can give her greater permission.
- Molly cannot see which users from The Neighborhood have access to which folders.
