Dataset editors can place dashboard tiles across multiple tabs, making it easier to navigate large dashboards. You can create as many tabs as you'd like.
Creating a tab
Tabs can be created both from within the dashboard itself and from the dashboard “tray”.
From within the dashboard
To add a tab to a dashboard that currently does not have tabs, enter Edit mode for the dashboard and choose Add tabs from the "+" menu in the header:
Once a dashboard has tabs, additional tabs can be added either by repeating the step above or, more conveniently, by clicking the "+" icon to the right of the last tab:
From within the dashboard tray
To add a tab to a dashboard, click the small Add tab button in the bottom left corner of the dashboard tray:
This adds a new, empty tab to your dashboard. If your dashboard already has tabs, they will be unaffected. If your dashboard does not already have tabs but has one or more analyses, they will automatically be placed into a first tab and this newly created tab will appear beneath.
Moving a tile to another tab
From within the dashboard
To move a tile from one tab to another, enter Edit mode and then hover over the tab you want to move. The overlay reveals a 3-dots menu icon in the top right corner. Click the icon, choose "Move to another tab", and then choose the destination tab. It will be moved to that tab, preserving any edits you have made, including to its shape and size:
From within the dashboard tray
Analyses can be dragged-and-dropped from one tab container to another. Simply click and hold on an analysis and drag it over to the header of another tab and release. The analysis will move to that tab, preserving any edits you have made, including to its shape and size.
Renaming a tab
New tabs are given basic names initially, such as Untitled 1, etc. — so it's helpful to rename tabs to aid user navigation. To do this from within the dashboard, enter Edit mode and then double-click on the existing name in the tab you want to change. This will make the name editable so you can just type your desired name. The tab width will adapt to accommodate the name you enter. Click anywhere else or press Enter/Return to accept the new name. Alternatively, to do this from within the dashboard tray, hover over the tab name and choose “Rename”. This will make the name field editable. Simply click away when you are done.
Deleting a tab
Tabs can be deleted from within the dashboard by entering Edit mode and then clicking on the small down-chevron that appears to the right of the current tab name, then choosing “Delete tab”. To delete a tab from within the dashboard tray, hover over the tab name and choose “Delete”. In either case, empty tabs will be deleted immediately whilst tabs with content will prompt you to choose whether to Move all tiles to the previous tab (next tab in the case of the first one), Delete all tiles, or Cancel:
Deleting a tab when there are currently two tabs will return the dashboard to a non-tabbed state.
Editing the script of a tab
Although dashboard scripts can be viewed and edited as a whole, it is sometimes convenient to work with just one tab’s script in isolation. To do this, enter Edit mode in the dashboard and click the down-chevron next to the current tab’s name (switch to a different tab first if you want to edit any other) and then choose “Edit script”:
This opens a panel that displays the current script definition for this tab and enables you to make edits or to copy the script to paste elsewhere. See the full documentation on how dashboard scripts work.
