There may be a time when you want to share only certain parts of a dataset with someone. One common example is an omnibus-style or syndicated survey. Crunch's Dataset Views feature allows you to select particular respondents (rows) and/or variables (columns) from an existing dataset and create a new dataset from them.
A dataset view remains linked to the source dataset so that if additional respondents are added to the source dataset, they will also appear in the dataset view (if the respondent meets the view's display criteria). Utilizing Crunch's scriptable dashboards, a dashboard created on the source dataset can also be copied to the dataset view.
In the web app
- With your source dataset open, click on the dataset properties menu and select "Create view".
- On the first screen, select the variables (columns) to include in the view.
- Next, select the respondents (rows) to include by using the drag-and-drop condition builder.
- Lastly:
- Enter a name for the view/dataset, we recommend giving the view a different name from the source dataset to aid in identification.
- Select the folder where you'd like to save the view. Utilizing Crunch's folder permissions allows you to share the view with a different group of users by selecting a folder to which they have access.
