The summary feature described in this article is powered by AI. This feature uses generative AI to summarize aggregated data (i.e., what’s on the charts and tables), not row-level data. Dashboards can contain AI summary tiles that summarize the contents of a tab on a dashboard. This is a great way to summarize dashboard contents to give users a quick overview.

Dataset editors can add AI summary tiles like these to dashboards. Each dashboard tab can have one AI summary tile.

Adding an AI summary tile

To add an AI summary tile:

1. Open a dashboard and select a tab to add the AI summary tile.
2. Click Edit in the top right corner to open the dashboard in edit mode.
3. Click the button to open the menu and select AI tab summary:

   

   A new AI Tab Summary tile appears at the top of your dashboard:

   

   • Click Generate summary to generate an AI summary of the dashboard tab.
   • Click X to remove the AI summary tile from the dashboard. You can add a new one at any time.
4. Click Done to to exit out of edit mode.

The AI summary tile generates content based on most data in your dashboard. Currently, some specific data is excluded from the AI summary. Excluded data currently includes population tiles, video tiles, markdown, and external resource tiles.

Adjusting the AI summary tile language

The AI summary will default to the predominant language of your dashboard tab. If a predominant language cannot be determined, the AI summary will default to English.

Users can define a language using Crunch Automation. See the Getting started with dashboard commands article to learn more about how to adjust the AI summary tile language.

Editing an AI summary tile

To edit the name of the AI Summary tile:

1. Locate and open the dashboard tab on which the summary tile exists.
2. Click Edit in the top right corner to open the dashboard in edit mode.
3. Hover over the AI summary tile and click Edit tile:

   

4. Edit the title:

   

5. Click Save when finished.

Refreshing an AI summary tile

If the content on your dashboard changes and the AI summary tile is outdated, you can update the AI summary by clicking the Refresh summary button that appears:

The AI summary will update to match the current content on your dashboard.

Removing an AI summary tile

To remove the AI summary tile from your dashboard:

1. Locate and open the dashboard tab on which the summary tile exists.
2. Click Edit in the top right corner to open the dashboard in edit mode.
3. Hover over the AI summary tile and click Delete tile:

   

   A confirmation message appears:

   

4. Click Delete to confirm.
