Crunch allows you you to share dataset views across Crunch organizations with data exchanges.
What is a data exchange?
A data exchange is a one-way bridge that allows a dataset owner who uses Crunch to share a view of a dataset with a receiving organization who also uses Crunch.
Why this matters
Receiving organizations can receive and move data into their existing Crunch folder structure that is already shared with appropriate users. Data exchanges make it easier to democratize data. This gives data owners the necessary tools to easily share data with their customers while retaining ownership of the underlying data.
Some important things to note:
- The data owner (sending organization) retains ownership of the data, but the receiving organization has the flexibility to move the dataset view into their existing folder structure to share with their users.
- Sending organizations retain ownership of the data, but do not have visibility into the receiving organization’s user or folder structure.
- Receiving organizations accept data and move the data into an existing folder that is shared with users.
- Once a dataset view has been moved out of the exchange, users in the receiving organization can access and analyze the dataset similar to any other dataset but cannot make changes to the underlying data.

Who can use the new feature
A data exchange is always between two organizations. The sending organization sends data to the receiving organization. Both organizations must be Crunch customers to use the data exchange.
How to access
A new data exchange can be configured by Crunch support. Once the data exchange has been configured, you will see it at the bottom of your folder sidebar. Please reach out to support@crunch.io to learn more.
